Take a step

UNFPA, 2023

Fighting domestic violence seems to be a huge challenge.
The national campaign against domestic violence “Empathy conquers violence. Take a step” breaks down this challenge into small steps.

The campaign was launched on the eve of the international action “16 Days of Activism Against Violence”, initiated by the Deputy Prime Minister for European Affairs and European Integration, Olga Stefanyshyna, with the participation of the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska.

The campaign has outlined 5 steps for witnesses or survivors of violence. These are the actions that can help resolve the situation without putting personal safety at risk.

Visual style was created to grab the viewer attention, convey steps clearly, and inspire action.
We opted for radial graphic elements as the foundation of the design system and combined them with an attention-grabbing orange color.

An extended list of tips for domestic violence cases is encoded in the puzzle of an interactive installation  that was exhibited in 3  major cities of Ukraine. Its goal is to teach people to look for and see steps that can help in cases of violence.

As part of the campaign, a series of lectures on sensitive communication and video courses were created. The main topic is how to interact sensitively when experiencing conflict, particularly during times of war.
